Reliable releasesIn practice1 min read

Launch is not the last day of a software project

Users, data and rules change. Ongoing maintenance needs a clear owner.

Assign responsibilities early

Who monitors backups, receives error reports and reviews new needs? Answer these questions before launch and allocate regular maintenance time.

Verify recovery, not just backup presence

A backup file alone does not prove recovery will work. Verify the steps and expected time in a suitable test environment rather than experimenting on live data.

Keep a short maintenance checklist

Include updates, important errors, backup checks and core user flows. Explain what a release changes and how to recover if required. Treat maintenance as ongoing project work.
